Abstract
1460628 Expanding wheel gear CLAYSON NV 22 May 1975 [30 May 1974] 24022/74 Heading F2D At least one of two pivots 28, 29 of a support frame 9, carrying a countershaft pulley 10, 11, 12 connected by belts 13, 14 with invariable input and output pulleys 2, 3, and adjustable about the pivotal axis VI by an hydraulic ram 31 for adjusting the effective diameters of the countershaft pulley, has an eccentric mounting for adjusting the alignment of the countershaft pulley relative to the input and output pulleys. In Figs. 1 to 3 both pivots 28, 29 have eccentric mountings. A body portion 42 of each pivot carries a spherical bearing 52 in a split socket 54 clamped to the respective side members 24 or 25 of the frame 9 by bolts 55, the body 42 having an eccentric spigot 40 clamped in a fixed structure 6 of the machine by a nut 48. For initial set up, all the nuts are loose and the pivotal frame 9 is centred in the fixed structure 6 after which nuts 59 and counternuts 60 are tightened. The eccentricities of opposite side pivots are initially set at right angles to one another, so that, by turning each eccentric pivot in the fixed structure 6, the frame 9 can be pivoted about the bearing member 52 of the opposite pivot in respective planes 68, 69 at right angles. After adjustment the nuts 48, 52 are tightened and the frame 9 then pivots about the body portions 42 of the pivots. For belt tension a screw 19 shifts the countershaft pulley 10, 11, 12 along slots 23 in the frame 9. In Figs. 7 to 9, not shown, both pivots have concentric spigots but one is carried in the fixed structure 6 in a compound eccentric having inner and outer eccentric bushes (74, 75) which can be turned relatively to produce the same adjustment as above. The gear is used on an agricultural machine.
