Abstract

1460131 Piling offshore structures OIL STATES RUBBER CO 28 Feb 1975 [10 April 1974] 8458/75 Heading E1H Each leg of an offshore platform has one or more tubular guides for piles 30, and each sleeve has at least one inflatable packer device 34 which when inflated seals the annulus between a sleeve e.g. 25 and its pile 30 and which is inflated from a pressure source P via a respective flexible line e.g. 72 (Fig. 11) contained within a rigid protective pipe 52 or 60 or 76. The flexible lines from each cluster of guides 24-29 are contained within a common rigid protective pipe which passes up the associated leg either internally or externally and which has branch pipes e.g. 66 leading to each inflatable packer device, each branch pipe containing only one of the flexible lines. After the packer devices have been inflated cement is pumped into the annular space between each sleeve and its pile. Prior to piling, each sleeve is closed by a rupturable diaphragm 42 at its lower end. As described, the legs 12 on one side of the platform are of larger diameter than on the other side and serve to float the jacket out to its offshore site.
