Abstract

1460112 Space heaters G SANTORO 27 Feb 1974 [12 March 1973] 8879/74 Heading F4S A space-heating radiator element (e.g. of aluminium or its alloys) comprises a tube 2 to each end of which is fitted a header member 5 consisting of a tubular main portion 8 from which threaded branch portions 6 extend, said main portion being fitted tightly into the end of the tube 2, the said tube 2 having external radially-extending fins 3 and at least those fins which in use (e.g. with the tube vertical) are at the front-facing portion of the radiator are interconnected by a separate or integrally formed panel 4. Adjacent radiator sections are interconnected by sleeve nuts 7 of metal or nylon. The radiator may serve also as a convector space heater, perforated cover members 10 being fitted over the headers at each end of the tube 2. The radiator may be connected into a central heating system, or it may be a portable appliance containing a fluid heated by an electric resistance. The internal surfaces of the tubes or headers may be anodized to inhibit corrosion.
