Abstract

1460070 Seat adjustments FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 28 Aug 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 37555/74 Heading A4J A vehicle seat is mounted on fore-and-aft slides 26, 27, Fig. 6, which are in turn mounted on further fore-and-aft slides 12, 15 on the vehicle floor. The lower slides 12, 15 may be adjusted for position with a conventional catch mechanism, while the upper slides 26, 27, allow the seat cushion portion to move forwardly when the seat backrest 28 is folded down to allow access to a rear seat. The backrest brackets 29 are pivotally secured at 31 to the seat cushion portion, and depending levers 33 engage a pin 34 secured to the intermediate assembly 15-26 of the slide arrangement. Thus when the backrest is tilted forwardly the cushion portion is pushed along rail 26. The lost motion slot 36 required by this arrangement also serves to limit the forward and rearward limit positions of the backrest. A catch 37, 38 is provided to prevent unintentional tilting of the backrest.
