Abstract

1459856 Storage tank fire extinguisher SAVAL BV 21 Feb 1974 [27 Feb 1973] 8007/74 Heading A5A A fire extinguishing system for a storage tank with a movable roof comprises first and second rows of sprinklers extending round the rim of the roof, a first reservoir for supplying fire extinguishing fluid to sprinklers in the first row and second reservoir for supplying fluid to sprinklers in the second row which are located opposite to and spaced from the sprinklers in the first row, in which the sprinklers are members of two or more groups the sprinklers of one group having a higher operating temperature than the sprinklers of the other group or groups. Preferably at least one group having a higher operating temperature and at least one group having a lower operating temperature is provided in each row, the sprinklers in one row having the higher operating temperature being opposite sprinklers in the second row having the lower operating temperature. At the cross-over points further sprinklers having an operating temperature higher than either group and/or further sprinklers having intermediate operating temperatures may be provided.
