Abstract

1313118 Shelving UNARGO INDUSTRIES Inc 14 April 1970 [14 April 1969] 17774/ 70 Heading A4B [Also in Division A5] An article storage arrangement including at least one fire-protected storage rack 10 of a number of tiers surmounted by roof 38 comprises tubular'means 20 both supporting tiers of the rack and constructed to convey pressurized fire extinguishing liquid therethrough and, in communication with the inside of 20, extinguishant supply main 26 and a plurality of heat-actuated sprinkler means 24 at spaced intervals along the length of 20, some of 24 being adjacent roof 38 to protect the latter from damage by fire or hot gas. Each rack, Fig. 1, includes vertical, 12, and horizontal, 14, 15 supports and optionally ancillary supports 16. Shelves 18, Fig.4, for articles or pallets rest on supports 14. Figs. 6 and 7 show an embodiment to minimise the "shadow" effect produced by the vertical supports. Racks 10, 10', 10" separated by access aisles 50 include vertical support conduits 52, 58 associated with sprinkler headers 60-66. Horizontal supports 67 form slideways for stored articles or pallets. In Fig.7 roof trusses 68(A-H) are also supported by conduits 52(A-H) and the latter are fed from main 70 by branches 72.
