Abstract

1459013 Rapid drying textile ground cover BAYER AG 16 Aug 1974 [16 Aug 1973] 36147/74 Heading D1P The drying rate of a water permeable textile ground cover is increased by applying a composition comprising a zirconium salt, e.g. zirconyl acetate, and one or more or all of α, #-bistrimethylsiloxypolydimethyl siloxane, α, #-dihydroxypolydimethyl siloxane and α, #- - trimethylsiloxymethyl - hydrogen - polysiloxane. The textile ground cover may be a woven fabric, a tufted carpet or a bonded needle felt. The fibres may be an alkylene glycol polyterephthalate, polyacrylonitrile or nylon 6, 11 or 66. The ground cover is used in football fields, tennis courts, etc. The composition is preferably applied as a 50 to 150 gm/litre aqueous emulsion by immersion or spraying, the material squeezed to reduce the wet take up to 50 to 100% dried for 5 to 30 minutes at 120 to 150‹C and then heated to 120 to 150‹C for 2 to 7 minutes to cure the polymer. The composition may be applied with the binder for the needlefelt.
