Abstract

1458742 Adjustable stirrup G C BALDUCCI 7 March 1974 [7 March 1973] 10240/ 74 Heading AIM An adjustable stirrup comprises a cushioned foot plate 10 (Fig. 1) pivotally connected to one end of a bar 13, the other end of bar 13 having a hook 14 attached thereto by a mechanism allowing, lateral adjustment. Hook 14 (Fig. 5) is pivotally connected to an internally threaded sleeve 16 slidably but non rotatably mounted in a bushing 17 integral with bar 13. A further sleeve 23 having an external thread cooperating with the internal thread of sleeve 16, is non slidably but rotatably mounted in bushing 17 and is integral with an external adjusting knob 22. A stem 25 is non-rotatably mounted in sleeve 23 and is spring biased towards the hook 14. A frustoconical block 26 is rigidly secured to the end of stem 25 adjacent hook 14, and is located in a conformal frusto conical hole in the end of sleeve 16. The rider stands in the stirrup and turns knob 22 until the cam action of hook 14 causes block 26 to bind in its hole preventing further adjustment whence the stirrup is correctly adjusted.
