Abstract

1458513 Hydraulic intensifiers PRESSURE DYNAMICS Ltd 1 April 1974 [30 March 1973] 15536/73 Heading F1D Apparatus for producing a substantially continuous supply of working liquid at high-pressure at a nozzle 83 comprises two double acting intensifiers 43, 50 which are operated alternately, the arrangement being such that whilst one intensifier is operating under the action of pressure fluid at a first pressure from a pump 12, one of the low-pressure chambers of the other intensifier is being supplied with fluid at a slightly lower pressure from a pump 13. A spool valve 20, controlled by a solenoid valve 85, supplies pressure fluid from the pump 12 alternately to either a spool valve 32 or a spool valve 36. Valves 32, 36, controlled by solenoid valves 86, 87 supply fluid to one or other of the low-pressure chambers 41, 42, 48, 49. The sequence of operations is controlled by limit switches 104, 105, 106, 107 operated by the low-pressure pistons 51, 58, and pressure switches 94, 95, which are operated when the spool of valve 20 reaches its extreme positions. When valves 32, 36 are in their intermediate positions as shown, pressure on either side of the low-pressure pistons is equalized through lines 39, 40 or 46, 47. Similarly pressure liquid is supplied simultaneously to both intensifiers by the valve 20 in the position shown to ensure a smooth change-over.
