Abstract

1458288 Bottle washing apparatus SEITZWERKE GmbH 8 July 1974 [1 Sept 1973] 30213/74 Heading B8T The washing stations of a bottle washing apparatus each comprise a reservoir divided into compartments 10<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP> separated by walls 21, 22 upon which are mounted deflector plates 23, the plates serving to deflect a portion of the cleaning liquid incident upon the bottles rearwardly relative to the direction of motion of said bottles so that it falls into the earlier and more contaminated compartment. Cleaning liquid enters compartment 12<SP>1</SP> through an inlet 19 and is sprayed on to the moving bottles via nozzles 15 vertically above the compartment; the liquid passes inside the bottles and is deflected on to the outer surfaces by a baffle 16, after which it descends into the reservoir. A portion of the liquid is deflected by plate 23 pivoted on wall 22 into compartment 11<SP>1</SP>, the quantity of liquid deflected being dependent upon the liquid level in compartment 12<SP>1</SP> this being determined by a float 27 and lever mechanisms 28 which varies the angle which plate 23 makes with the vertical. Similarly, liquid is transferred from compartment 11<SP>1</SP> to compartment 10<SP>1</SP>. In this manner a continuous transfer of liquid occurs between the compartments in each reservoir, finally leaving via an outlet 20.
