Abstract
1457714 Polycarbonate compositions BAYER AG 22 May 1975 [21 June 1974] 22263/75 Heading C3R A moulding composition comprises: high M.W. thermoplastic aromatic polycarbonate (A); 10-30% wt., based on (A)+(B), of glass fibres (B); and 1-5% wt., based on (B) of poly - (2,6 - dialkyl - 1,4 - phenylene oxide) (C). M w , the wt. average M.W., of (A) may be 10,000 -100,000, and of (C), 2000-100,000. (A) may be a homo- or co-polycarbonate derived from dihydric phenol(s) or from bisphenol(s) optionally ring-substituted o and/or mto the OH groups with CH 3 - or halogen, and from phosgene or carbonic acid diesters. In (C), the alkyl may have I-4 C atoms. (B) may be E-glass i.e. Al borosilicate glass of max. alkali oxide content 0À8% wt., of diameter 8-15 Ám and length 150-6000 Ám. The ingredients may be mixed simultaneously or successively by conventional methods. Conventional additives may be incorporated. Use.-Electrical switch cabinets, socket strips, bobbins, chassis, and housings and binoculars.
