Abstract

1457544 Surgical knives MOSKOV ORDENA LENINA I ORDENA TRUDO KRAS ZNAME VYSSHEE TEKHNICHE UCHILISOHE IMENI NE BAUMANA 28 Nov 1973 55103/73 Heading A5R A surgical instrument .for separating biological tissue, comprises an elongated knife 2, Fig. 2, removably connected by a titanium rod 1 to an acoustic head (3) Fig. 1, (not shown), which is connected to a generator 5 of ultrasonic oscillations, said knife performing, in use, longitudinal mechanical oscillations at ultrasonic frequency, wherein the cutting portion of the knife comprises a metal plate 17 FLg. 4, having cutting teeth 18, 19 disposed on at least one edge of the plate. The knife cutting portion has a cross-section of a generally trapezoidal shape. The teeth 18 on a outting edge of knife 2 adapted to separate osseous tissue are of a triangular shape with flat front edges inclined to the vertical height of each tooth by up to 10‹, the teeth 19 on a cutting edge for separating cartilaginous tissue being of arcuate form. In a modification the knife may be of triangular cross-section.
