1457261 Shaft seals GEORGE ANGUS & CO Ltd 11 March 1974 [13 March 1973] 11980/73 Heading F2B In a rotary shaft lip seal, the air side moulded face has a major portion 3 at a greater acute angle m to the shaft axis, than that s, of a contiguous minor portion 1. Under a high working pressure, the portion 1 tends to lie flat, thus giving a wide contact band with low load per unit area. The leg portion 4 is stiffened by making it more than usually thick.
