Abstract

1456000 Hair dressing appliance SUNBEAM CORP 12 Dec 1973 [16 Jan 1973] 57581/73 Heading A4V [Also in Division A5] A hair dressing appliance for use as a heated comb or brush comprises an elongate housing having an air inlet grill 18, a hot air discharge recess 44 in a bottom wall 43 of the housing, a resilient clip 49 which projects downwardly into the recess and is adapted for releasably holding a comb or brush, a motor actuated fan 23 and a heater assembly 24 disposed between the air inlet 18 and the recess 44, a pump 92, a reservoir for the pump, and a nozzle 115 for spraying water in the same direction as the comb or brush using a pivotally mounted lever 57, the nozzle being in communication with an outlet 95 of the pump through a bore 83. A preferred embodiment comprises a power handle 12, which is resiliently connected to a comb holder body portion 14 by means of a latch finger 66 engaged in a notch 34 and a pump-reservoir unit 16 which is releasably mounted on the comb holder by means of a retainer clip 81 resiliently engaging a detent 69 provided on the base portion 40 of the comb holder 14. The base portion 40 has an upper wall 46 defining an upper surface of the recess 44, the recess being in communication with a hot air outlet of the power handle 12, and having a rearwardly and upwardly extending portion 53 with a central opening 54 therein. A piston assembly 106 includes a piston 108 movable within a chamber 93 and connected to one end of a piston and 107 which extends into the comb holder body portion where the outer end 112 of the piston rod is biased against an enlargement 61 provided on a portion 60 of the pump actuating lever 57. The pump housing 92 is connected to the reservoir through a tube (96) which is connected to an inlet bore 97, the latter intersecting an axial bore 94 in the pump housing The bottom wall 77 of the pump-reservoir unit is provided with a filler opening 85 having a cap 86, the latter being attached to the pump-reservoir unit by attachment of a portion thereof to a depending boss 87. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1362758.
