Abstract
1455994 Azo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 23 Jan 1974 [30 Jan 1973] 4581/73 Heading C4P [Also in Division D1] Polyamide textile materials are dyed, padded or printed with an aqueous solution of an azo dye prepared by conventional processes of formula in which A is a residue of a diazo component of the benzene or naphthalene series other than aniline - 2,4 - disulphonic acid or an acylkated or halogenerated derivative thereof; E is a residue of a coupling component of the aminobenzene, or aminonaphthalene series, the aminonaphthalene being free from hydroxyl groups, X is =NO, Y is chlorine or bromine, Q<SP>1</SP> is -O-, -S- or -NR<SP>4</SP>- in which R<SP>4</SP> represents hydrogen or lower (C 1-4 ) alkyl, Q<SP>2</SP> is a direct link, -O-, -CO-, -SO 2 -, -SO 2 NH-, -NHSO 2 -, -CONH-, -NHCO-, -COO-, -OCO-, -OSO 2 - -S- or -NR<SP>5</SP>- in which R<SP>5</SP> is hydrogen or lower (C 1-4 ) alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is arylene radical R<SP>2</SP> is an optionally substituted alkyl containing 4 to 7 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical such that R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together contain not more than 13 carbon atoms, R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen or lower (C 1-4 ) alkyl, the -NR group being attached to E unless E is the residue of a 1-naphthylamine-8-sulphonic acid or to a terminal residue in A and n is a whole number having a value from 1 to 3. Silk, wool and nylon may be dyed.
