Abstract
1455796 Linear polyesters CIBA-GEIGY AG 25 July 1974 [30 July 1973] 32904/74 Heading C3R A linear, thermoplastic homo- or co-polyester is derived from terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid or polyester-forming derivatives thereof, a diol of the formula in which R 1 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or phenyl, R 2 is hydrogen or R 1 and R 2 together are tetramethylene, A is a radical of the formula or U 1 is a radical of the formula in which B 1 and B 2 are hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl and U 2 is U 1 or a radical of the formula in which D 1 and D 2 are hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl or phenyl or D 1 and D 2 together are pentamethylene, and optionally an alkylene glycol of 2-10 C atoms or cyclohexane-dimethanol. The polyesters may be mixed with glass fibres or spheres or antimony trioxide. The examples describe homo- and co-polyesters prepared from the following compounds: dimethyl (and diphenyl) terephthalate, dimethyl isophthalate, ethylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and the following diols
