Abstract
1455262 Digital-to-analogue conversion MICRO CONSULTANTS Ltd 22 April 1974 [30 May 1973] 25721/73 Heading H3H The output of a digital-to-analogue converter is in the form of pulses, Fig. 3, each of an amplitude corresponding to the value of the digital input and of a duration not more than 0À7 times the period between pulses. In a video system this replaces frequency-dependent amplitude loss by fixed amplitude loss which can be compensated by amplification. Preferably, the markspace ratio is between 0À1 and 0À7. In Fig. 9, the output of the converter 40 is chopped by F.E.T. switches 31, 32 controlled by delays 43, 46 and a flip-flop 45. Switches 31, 32 may be diodes or optical; one of them may be replaced by a resistor. The level between pulses need not be earth, Fig. 10 (not shown). In another form, Fig. 6 (not shown), the digital input is chopped by being stored in a register (10) of flip-flops each flip-flop being reset before the arrival of the next sampling pulse.
