Abstract

1455081 Two part coupling SOC FRANCAISE METALLO 17 Jan 1974 [15 Feb 1973] 02294/74 Heading H2E A connector, with similar members engageable when mutually inverted, comprises housings 1 each holding one or more spring metal contacts 6. Locating prongs and latches 4, 5 engage similar parts in the opposite member. Each contact 6 is retained by tang 8 engaging in a recess in housing 1, and by a shoulder at the rear, where a wire 9 is crimped or soldered 7. Alternatively the contacts may have wire ends, bent perpendicularly outside the housings to enter feed-through holes on a printed circuit card, the card being held by latches 13 engaging in edge recesses. A connector member may also be mounted upright on a card, with the wire ends of the contacts passing straight into holes in the card. The contact members may each carry a transverse rib to interlock with the engaging contact.
