Abstract

1454903 Dart flights P COXON 22 July 1974 [30 July 1973] 27789/73 Heading A6S A dart flight comprises a shaft 10 from which radially extend a number of vanes 12a, 12b, the shaft 10 comprising first and second shaft parts 10a, 10b, each shaft part carrying at least one vane, the first shaft part 10a having longitudinally extending open-ended slot 13 (Fig. 3) and the second part 10b having a formation e.g. a web, for locating in the slot 13. Relative transverse movement of the two parts is prevented e.g. by a central ridge portion 14. Adjacent the open end of the slot 13 is disposed a spigot portion 17 whereby the flight may be secured to a dart body e.g. by a screw fit or an interference fit, either directly or via an intermediate member. Each vane may comprise a number of barbs 11 attached at one end to the shaft. The barbs 11 may have a cross section and arrangement as shown in Fig. 4, and they may be connected together by a web. The flight may be moulded from plastics, e.g. polyethylene, polyproylene, ABS or nylon.
