1454544 Measuring surface profiles MOSKO ORDENA LENINA I ORDENA TRUDOV KRAS ZNAME VYSSHEE TEKHNICHE UCHILISCHE IMENI NE BAUMANA 4 Dec 1973 56064/73 Headings G1M and G1N The profile of a surface of a machine or machine tool is measured by apparatus comprising at least three measuring devices for effecting linear measurement, each including a displaceable contact element 12 for contacting the surface and signal issuing means, e.g. an inductive pick-up 8 and a solenoid 7, operatively associated therewith and issuing a signal in dependence upon the displacement of the element 12. The elements 12 are carried by a movably mounted flexible support 10, and means are provided for displacing the support to move the contacts from an initial position into contact with the surface. As described, the support 10 is part of a bellows device and comprises a rubber base with a brass foil adhered on both sides thereof and is initially positioned, by utilizing stops 13, 14, so that the distance between contact element 12 and solenoid 7 pairs is the same. Compressed air from a source 19, via an electromagnetic valve 20, causes the elements 12 to abut the surface being tested. The valve 20 is opened by a control pulse from a control circuit 28 which circuit, after a pause to allow completion of the transient processes in the mechanical system, successively connects each pick-up 8 to an analogcode converter 24 via a respective filtering amplifier 23, the resultant signal then proceeding to a digital register 25. The valve 20 is then closed and the support returns, under the action of springs 16, to its initial position. The device may be operated when the surface to be measured is stationary or rotating.
