Abstract

1454274 Printing TOLERANS AB 5 Nov 1973 [7 Nov 1972] 51184/73 Heading B6C In a method and apparatus for determining the ink requirement of a print and setting ink supply means in dependence on the determined requirement a negative of the print is illuminated from one side and the light transmitted measured on the other and the ink requirement obtained from this measurement. The apparatus preferably comprises a base 20 having light tubes 26a, a glass plate 26 on which the negative rests and a compartmented lid 25, each compartment having a plurality of photo-cells which in total correspond to the area of print to be served by one ink supply means. In an alternative form the lid may have a single displaceable compartment instead of a plurality of fixed ones.
