Abstract
1454260 Expansion joints; pipe supports SF AIR TREATMENT Ltd 7 Nov 1973 [15 Nov 1972] 52823/72 Headings F2G and F2P A joint allowing for expansion between a wall 7 of a waste gas conditioner 2 and a wall 6 of an electrostatic precipitator 3 comprises a flexible seal 10 preferably of rubberized laminated aluminized asbestos mounted between a plate 8 on the wall 7 and a plate 9 carried by a further plate 5 on the wall 6. Baffle flanges 17, 18 form a labyrinth for gas flow. In further alternative embodiments the seal 10 can be supported internally by a round bar hoop mounted on supports carried by the plate 9, or the seal may simply be mounted between angle brackets on the plates 8, 9. The conditioner 2 is supported on four vertical columns 20, 21, 22, 23 arranged in a rectangle, three of the columns 21, 22, 23 having thereon a plate 29, Fig. 7, supporting a roller bogie 28 with a socket 31 to receive a bearing 32 on the conditioner 2, and the other column 20 being provided with just a fixed socket as 31, so that expansion movements of the conditioner can be accommodated by movements on the columns 21, 22, 23, the column 20 acting as a fixed point from which the movements are made.
