Abstract

1453725 Load handling spreaders CKD PRAMA OBOROVY PODNIK 31 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 50661/73 Heading B8H A gantry crane for handling freight containers comprises a load spreader 7 suspended by links 6 or pulley tackle (not shown) from brackets 5 which are vertically displaceable by means (not shown). A pair of parallel links 4 are pivotally mounted on a respective bracket and each has a roller 3 running in a guide rail 1 mounted on the supporting structure of the crane. A hydraulic activator 13 is connected to each link and by suitable operation thereof the spreader can be moved relative to the crane to accurately position a container 9, held thereby, on a support surface 11. The supply lines 15 to the respective sides of the piston of each extractor may be connected through a valve (17) Fig. 3 (not shown) to allow the spreader to freely pivot and a diaphragm may be inserted in such connections to dampen such movement.
