Abstract

1453573 Stabilized and peptized rubber DUNLOP Ltd 18 Dec 1973 [30 Dec 1972] 60237/72 Heading C3E A composition comprises natural rubber, a peptizer for the rubber and a primary amine as viscosity stabilizer for the rubber. Specified peptizers are xylene thiols and di-(o-benzamidophenyl)disulphide. The stabilizer may be of formula wherein X is OH, a hydroxyalkyl group, an alkyl group, or an aryl group, or a salt, e.g. hydrochloride, hydrosulphate or sulphate of such a compound. Examples are given of the preparation of blends from rubber latex xylyl mercaptan, hydroxylamine sulphate, castor oil, cup lump granules and, optionally, unsmoked sheet granules, acidified, as may be the cup lump granules, with formic acid.
