Abstract

1453289 PTFE compositions P M IVANOV 1 Nov 1973 50865/73 Heading C3P An antifriction composition comprises PTFE, copper sulphide in amount up to 5% of the PTFE, a resin, and a fibrous component selected from glass fibre, carbon graphite fibre, metallic fibre or a mixture of two or more thereof, the composition containing up to 220% by wt. of fibre based on PTFE. The resin component which may comprise up to 110% by wt. of PTFE may be a mixture of 3-15 wt. per cent of phenolformaldehyde resin, 10-50 wt. per cent of polyvinylbutyral, 5-30 wt. per cent epoxy resin, 10-50 wt. per cent melamineformaldehyde resin and 3-15 wt. per cent of a polyester resin which comprises a polycondensation product of ethylene glycol, glycerine and sebacic acid. Also exemplified is the use of mixtures of polyvinylbutyral and phenolformaldehyde resin.
