Abstract

1452298 Copy by scanning XEROX CORP 22 Nov 1973 [27 Nov 1972 (2)] 54234/73 Heading H4F A light beam generated by a light source 1, which may be a laser, and modulated by a video signal at 4 is scanned across a recording medium 25 by a rotating polygon scanner 16, a cylindrical lens 23 being included to provide compensation for errors, due to the axis of scanner 16 not being at right angles to the incident modulated light beam or to misalignment of the facets of scanner 16, which would produce a line scan on medium 25 not at right angles to the direction of motion of medium 25. Cylindrical lens 23 may be bi-convex, planoconvex, or meniscus. Lens 18 may be placed between scanner 16 and cylindrical lens 23 (Fig. 1, not shown). To provide synchronization signals a detector 48 is provided to produce a pulse at the start of each line scan, a timing element being provided to produce, in response to each start pulse, a pulse indicating the end of the line scan.
