Abstract

1452065 Polyurethanes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 22 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 50304/72 Heading C3R [Also in Division C2] Polyurethanes are prepared by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with an organic polyol in the presence of a tertiary amine having the formula where Z is oxygen or sulphur, and R is hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic radical or a group of the formula -NHR<SP>1</SP> where R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic radical. Specified tertiary amines are N - (3 - dimethylaminopropyl)formamide, N,N<SP>1</SP> - bis - (3 - dimethylaminopropyl)urea and N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N<SP>1</SP>-phenylthiourea.
