1451759 Cleaning conveyer belts C W WARD 30 Nov 1973 [22 Dec 1972] 59465/72 Heading B8A A pair of belt-scraping blades 22 are carried by respective arms 18 in advance of a second pair of blades 22 carried by a pair of arms 20. Each pair of blades is secured by taper plug and socket fixings 26, 28, connected by a bolt 30 to place the blades at a desired inclination to the belt. In a modification (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), the blades are rotatably mounted in blocks (68) which are themselves rotatably mounted about a shaft (70) which is bolted to the outer end of the respective arm 18 or 20. The latter comprise leaf springs, and at their ends opposite to the scraper blades 22, they are each formed with a hexagon-shaped bore to fit a hexagon cross-section support rod 38 or 40. The rods 38, 40, are set to a desired position by means of an arm 64 (which is removable to enable it to be used for setting either rod 38 or 40). By rotating the arm 64, an apertured sector plate 48 rigid with the rod 38 (or 40), may be turned until the arms 18, 20, are in their correct positions for holding the blades 22 against the belt with a predetermined pressure. The plate 48 is then secured relative to an apertured plate A rigid with the conveyer frame, by means of a pin 50. By providing two apertures suitably spaced on the plate 48, a finer degree of adjustment of the arms is possible, than that provided just by the spacing of the apertures 54 of the plate A. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown), the rods 38, 40, may be connected by a section (80) of hexagonal cross-section tube. In an alternative arrangement (Complete Specification drawing), each blade is mounted, as before, on a pair of arms 32, 34, which are rotatably mounted on the hexagonal crosssection shaft 38. An arm 88 rotationally rigid with the shaft 38, carries screws 86 by means of which the arms 32, 34, may be adjusted rotationally relative to the shaft 38. The blades 22 may alternatively be of triangular crosssection, as in Specification 1,331,222.
