Abstract

1451665 Mineral-mining picks EDMUND NUTTALL Ltd 3 May 1974 [4 July 1973] 31857/73 Heading E1F In a mineral-mining cutting tool of the chisel type, i.e. a tool having a generally planar cutting face 2 extending laterally of the intended direction of travel of the pick and raked back from its leading cutting edge, which may be straight or rounded, the tool has a shank of V section over at least part of its cross section, with the apex 4 of the V pointing in the intended direction of travel of the tool. Such a sectional shank creates a free flow of mineral away from the cutting face of the tool. The tool may be of the twin headed type and the shank of such a tool may have a diamond or like cross section so that a V section of the shank points towards each cutting face of the tool.
