1451570 Preparation of 3,5-dimethylphenol SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 3 July 1975 [5 July 1974] 29934/74 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of 3,5-dimethylphenol comprises converting 3,5,5-trimethyl-2- cyclohexen-1-one to 3,5-dimethylphenol in the gas phase using a catalyst comprising cobalt and molybdenum on an aluminium-containing carrier which catalyst has been calcined at a temperature above 800‹ C.
