Abstract

1451533 Mixing apparatus for solids in liquids G R SCHOLD 29 Jan 1974 04205/74 Heading B1C An apparatus for dispersing solid particles contained in agglomerated form in suspension in a liquid comprises a mixing vessel 16 formed by one cup-shaped element 23 having a central opening 38, Fig. 8, or a plurality of such cupshaped elements stacked one upon another, Fig. 3, the element or elements being received'between end closure means 24, 25, one end closure 25 being provided with an inlet 17 which can be connected to means (20 Fig. 1 not shown) for introducing to the inlet the mixture under pressure and the other end closure 24 being provided with outlet 48 for the treated liquid. Releasable means, bolts 26, hold the assembly together. The or each cup-shaped element defines a chamber 64 and also has an internal cavity 32 with inlet 34 and outlet 36 passages for coolant liquid. A rotatable shaft 15 driven by a motor (13 Fig. 2 not shown) carries agitator discs or discs 22 which extend into chamber or chambers 64. The discs may be formed with a central portion 53 with twisted upper and lower split flanges 56 Fig. 7. The cavities 32 communicate at 34, 36 and 37.
