Abstract
1451491 Stud and socket fastenings; mounting hinges JULIUS BLUM GmbH 7 Sept 1973 [25 Oct 1972] 42274/73 Headings E2B and E2F [Also in Division F2] A hinge 3 between two structural members, e.g. a door 1 and a wall 2, consists of an element 4 fitted in a recess in the member 2 and providing one arm of the hinge, and a structure comprising the other arm of the hinge and including a socket or keyway 7 within which is slidably fitted a spigot or key 6 which is secured to the member 1, e.g. by screws 5, 5', the spigot or key having a series of resilient ribs 8 along its length which extend outwardly from a side surface of the spigot or key and are inclined rearwardly in relation to the direction of insertion of the spigot or key, the arrangement being such that on insertion of the spigot or key in the socket or keyway the ribs are deflected rearwardly and grip the interior wall of the socket or keyway. As shown, a key 6 of T section is fitted in a keyway of corresponding section, but a key or spigot of circular cross-section in a cylindrical socket or keyway could alternatively be used.
