Abstract

1451405 Zeolites Y VMIRSKY KFRONTOVIKOV A Z DOROGOCHINSKY N F MEGED and A P KOSOLAPOVA 18 July 1974 31831/74 Heading C1A Zeolites produced as binderless, spherical, granules by (a) mixing an aqueous solution of an alkali metal aluminate having a concentration of from 50 to 100 g./l. (expressed as Al 2 O 3 ) with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal silicate having a concentration of from 100 to 200 g./l. expressed as SiO 2 , to obtain a sol, the solutions being mixed in amounts such that the SiO 2 : Al 2 O 3 molar ratio is from 4 to 10; (b) adding the sol as separate streams to an organic liquid immiscible with the sol, thus transforming it into spherical gel granules in the organic liquid medium; (c) transferring the granules to an aqueous solution of an ammonium salt of from 10-100 g./l. concentration, expressed as the anhydrous salt; (d) successively treating the gel granules with the spent aqueous solution of an ammonium salt in which the gel granules were transferred, with a fresh aqueous solution of an ammonium salt of concentration 10 to 100 g./l. and with an aqueous solution of an aluminium salt of concentration 5 to 30 g./l., and washing with water; (e) dehydrating the washed granules by heating at from 80-800‹ C.; (f) crystallizing the granules of dehydrated amorphous aluminosilicate in a second alkaline solution of sodium aluminate of concentration 10-150 g./l. (as Al 2 O 3 ) at 50-100‹ C. to obtain spherical granules; (g) washing the granules until the waste wash water has a pH of 9-11, and (h) drying.
