Abstract

1450771 Apparatus for moving filter press plates ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO Ltd 16 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 2329/73 Heading B1D The plates of a filter press are moved towards or away from each other by engaging the lug 5 on piston rod 3 and lug 20 on cylinder 2 with the appropriate plates or extensions thereof and retracting or extending the piston rod 3 e.g. by compressed air. In Fig. 1 the device 1 is provided with wheels 10, 11 which in use are supported on a wire extending along the filter press so that the device 1 can be manually swung towards or away from the plates and manually moved along the press. Rod 6 prevents rotation of lug 5 relatively to cylinder 2. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the plate moving device is pivotally suspended from a trolley running on rails above the plates. The plates and frames (if used) of the filter press may be suspended from rail(s) above or adjacent the plates.
