Abstract
1,263,240. Packing sleepers. RHEINER MASCHINENFABRIK WINDHOFF A.G. 26 May, 1970 [2 July, 1969], No. 25280/70. Heading E1G. Railway track travelling apparatus for compacting ballast comprises surface vibrators 2 acting between the sleepers and plates 5 for applying pressure onto the ballast at the ends of the sleepers. The plates 5 are pressed downwardly by hydraulic ram 7 while the vibrators act in adjacent bays. A plate (8, Fig. 3, not shown) may extend across several sleepers.
