Abstract

1450659 Coated products PPG INDUSTRIES INC 20 March 1974 [21 March 1973] 12257/74 Heading B2E [Also in Division C7] A diaphragm for electrolytic cells, comprises a porous, electrolyte permeable asbestos mat of fibrous chrysotile asbestos which is coated with a silicate deposited from a solution on one surface thereof. Fine asbestos powders may be present with the fibres of the mat. The water-soluble silicates may be of lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium and caesium. The silicate moiety may be the monosilicate, polysilicate or polysilicic acid.
