Valve-chests, construction of and cooling.-The axle spindle guide 1 is constructed with lateral and bottom projecting plates 2, 3, and is welded to the casing 4, which is cut away at 5, thus leaving a pocket so that the cooling water which surrounds the casing may obtain access to the spindle guide.
