Abstract

1450619 Applicator for variable width sheets OWENS-CORNING FIBERGLAS CORP 9 Dec 1974 [29 April 1974] 53205/74 Heading D1L Particulate thermoplastic, liquid coatings or slurries are applied to sheet material 22 e.g. glass fibre mat, from a hopper 10 pivotable about its vertical axis [see Fig. 3 (not shown)] so that the width of the curtain of material discharged therefrom can be adjusted to the width of the sheet material. The hopper 10 may be supported on a circular track (42) [Fig. 4 (not shown)] or suspended from a support (52) via bearing (50) [Fig. 7 (not shown)]. The material 12 to be applied is metered from the hopper outlet by a grooved roller 16, the roller being cleaned by a brush roller 18. The outlet may be in the form of a slot. series of holes or nozzles. The sheet material 22 is supported on a foraminous conveyor 24.
