Abstract

1450236 Intruder detector M TACUSSEL 17 May 1974 [22 May 1973] 22111/74 Heading H4D In an intruder detector, wherein a UHF transmitter and homodyne receiver detector 4, Fig. 1, transmits an, e.g. 2,450 MHz CW radio signal into the area to be surveilled and mixes the Doppler frequency shifted echo signal from an intruder with the transmitted signal to produce a Doppler frequency beat signal, the beat signal is prevented from actuating an alarm 16 in the presence of strong parasitic interference, e.g. mains noise, or when the operation of the detector generates a disabling signal from a portable transmitter 24. The beat signal at 5 Hz per Km./hr. is fed via a main amplifier 6, insensitive to the parasitic interference, to an inhibitable amplifier 10. An auxiliary amplifier 8, including bipolar rectifiers, is sensitive to the parasitic interference and feeds the resulting rectified signal to the inhibiting input of the amplifier 10. The disabling signal at 27 MHz, modulated at 200-5,000 Hz is received at 18 and converted to IF at 455 KHz. The IF signal is then detected in the auxiliary amplifier. The homodyne receiver detector 4 can be constructed in strip line form on the back of the board bearing on its front face, the aerial 2 in the form described in Figs. 2, 3, 4 (all not shown).
