Abstract

1449629 Immersion heaters INTERPET ELECTRICAL Ltd 20 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973] 59486/73 Heading H5H A thermostatic immersion heater comprises a resistance heater 2 and thermostat 3 mounted in an open ended tube (glass) 1 closed at the open end by resilient fluid tight bung 7 and a resilient end cap 8 a supply cable 6 and a thermostat adjusting member 5 passing through holes in the bung 7 which are a sealing fit, and the supply cable 6 passing through a sleeve 9 of the cap 8 whilst the adjusting member 5 is received in a squeezable and twistable projection 10 through which it can be manipulated for angular adjustment. The adjusting member 5 comprises a splined rod provided at its inner end with a sleeve which frictionally engages the thermostat adjusting screw 4. The hole through which the adjusting rod 5 passes is flared towards the inside of tube 1 to enable the rod to be turned easily. A copper tongue 11 embedded in the bung 7 which is made of natural or synthetic rubber or plastics fixes thermostat 3 in position. Aquaria wine, and fruit juices may be heated.
