Abstract

144,917. Cole, W. E. Aug. 15, 1919. Bits; bridles.-A bit constructed in two engaging parts has each part hollowed out to receive a helical spring C and a spindle B connecting with the outside ring F to which the rein is attached. The spindle is furnished with a nut D to adjust the tension and the outer end of the bit with a screw cap E to enable the parts to be assembled. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which the spring device acts at right-angles from the end of the bit, a check chain G connecting the rein ring to the lower bar of the bit.
