Abstract

1448529 Controlling air flow to exhaust afterburners DEUTSCHE VERGASER GmbH & CO KG 20 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 55220/ 74 Addition to 1375148 Heading B1W The flow of extra air fed to an exhaust afterburner (18) of an internal combustion engine (11) is controlled by means of a device comprising at least one sensor (17 and/or 17a) installed upstream and/or downstream of the afterburner which responds to the concentration of O 2 and/or CO and/or NO x by giving signals to a control device (24) which in turn gives command signals to an actuator (26) which acts through an actuating device (27) to control valve (28) which controls the feed of extra air to exhaust pipe (16). The device also including an exhaust pipe extension leading to a second afterburner (18) and a further air duct (29).
