Abstract
1448369 Separating hydrocarbons from gases ALUMINIUM CO OF AMERICA 5 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 41700/73 Headings B1B and B1C Hydrocarbons are removed from a gas by deposition on solid particles of a fluidised bed by passing the gas through the bed and maintaining the particles at a temperature not greater than the condensation temperature of the hydrocarbons by applying a liquid coolant to the particles to coat the particles with a thin film of coolant. The coolant, e.g. water, may be injected directly into the bed or onto the bed from above to maintain the bed at <125C. The particles may be alumina, coke, sand, silica and calcium carbonate, and the gas may be that emitted upon baking carbon electrodes.
