Abstract

Fixing furniture to floors; spring mountings for seats.-An adjustable and detachable seat for automobiles &c. comprises a base adapted to rest upon the floor of the vehicle, members protruding from the base to form a fork, and a loose bridge-piece adapted to rest transversely across the arms of the fork and to clamp the fork to the floor. As shown in Fig. 2 the bridge-piece 9 rests across the protruding members 6<a>, and is provided with a hole or slot 10 through which passes a threaded bolt 11, actuated by the hand-wheel 13 and engaging a bush 12 in the floor 7. A modification is shown in Fig. 4, wherein a central member 17 is provided with a forked end 20, clamped by the bridge-piece 21. The seat 1, which is thus adjustable in any direction parallel with the floor surface, may be mounted on four helical springs 4, or on two front springs 4 together with a single but stronger back spring 23.
