1447955 Cleaning flow coverings LEIFHEIT INTERNATIONAL GUNTER LEIFHEIT GmbH 17 Jan 1975 [18 Jan 1974] 2215/75 Heading A4F An appliance for foaming and applying cleaning agent to carpet and other material and movable thereover, comprises a housing 11 defining a supply container 13 for cleaning agent to be focused, and a frame 20 removably secured to the housing 11 and having pivotably mounted therein a cage 21 mounting an absorbent resilient foam producing member 19, e.g. a roller, a pressure roller or rollers 26 for compressing the member 19 to produce foam and an applicator roller 40 to work the foam into the material to be cleaned, the frame 20 also having an attachment, e.g. a pivoted lever 29, carrying a valve-member 30 and a perforated distributer 33 for the cleaning agent, the valve-member 30 controlling the flow of cleaning agent from the container 13 into the distributer 33. From the latter the cleaning agent flows on to the roller 19 to be worked into foam by the roller 26, each of the rollers 19, 26 having a rigid core with a covering of foamed material. The applicator roller 40 has surface serrations 41. Between the rollers 26, 40 is a pivotably mounted brush 42 for spreading the foam on to the surface to be cleansed. The valve 30 is opened by tilting the lever 29 by pressing a push button 39, Fig. 5 (not shown), on the cleaner handle.
