Abstract

1447679 Automatic voltage control XEROX CORP 4 Dec 1973 [6 Dec 1972] 56226/73 Heading G2R A circuit for supplying a regulated alternating voltage to a heater for a fuser in an electrostatic copier, includes a device which cuts off the voltage supply for a predetermined time interval when the heater voltage reaches a predetermined level. As shown in Fig. 3, a fuser 40 is heated by a lamp 44 connected in series with controlled rectifiers 46. The voltage across the lamp is sensed by a transformer 51 which charges a capacitor 60 until a predetermined voltage level is reached at one input 65 of a switching amplifier 66. The predetermined voltage is set by a reference voltage on line 58. When this level is reached, the output of the amplifier turns off the rectifiers 46 for a time interval which is determined by the time constant of capacitor 70 and associated resistors. At the end of this interval, the amplifier 66 switches to its other state and the rectifiers 46 again become conductive. In the meantime, capacitor 60 has discharged through a resistor 62, so that the regulating cycle begins again. The fuser housing temperature may be monitored by a thermistor (45), Fig. 2 (not shown).
