Abstract

1447568 Indexing work-tables K E WITZIG and R FRANK 22 Feb 1974 [23 Feb 1973] 8083/74 Heading B3B An indexable work-table 1, e.g. in automatic machining apparatus for successive machining at several operating stations of workpieces clamped on the table 1, comprises a supporting frame 3 for supporting the work-table 1 for rotation about a vertical axis, a drive for indexing the work-table, an angular positioning device 5 for accurate final positioning of the worktable, and is characterized by means for lowering the work-table to disengage the angular positioning device before an indexing operation and for raising the work-table to re-engage it after the indexing operation. The angular positioning device 5 comprises interengaging toothed rings 7, 8. An hydraulic or pneumatic single acting piston 14 and cylinder 12 lower and raise the work-table and at the same time engage and disengage the indexing drive coupling 18, 23. A fluid pressure piston 25 having rack teeth rotates the coupling pinion 23 only when the work-table has been lowered. A control tube 2 carries the work-table and the angular positioning device, piston and cylinder 14, 12 and coupling 18, 23 are arranged concentrically thereto. The piston 14 is supported relative to the tube 2 by bearing 17, 20 so that it does not rotate with the tube. Stroke adjustment in the piston rack 25 and control sensors are provided.
