1447536 Treating acrylic fibres MITSUBISHI RAYON CO Ltd 14 Nov 1973 52807/73 Heading C3P Acrylic fibres containing at least 80% of acrylonitrile are made water swellable by (1) reacting with hydroxylamine to introduce 0À05 m.mol./g. of amidoxime, groups (2) hydrolysing with aqueous alkali to introduce 4-10 m.mol./g. of carboxyl groups and (3) if necessary converting at least 3 m.mol./g. into Li, K, Na or NH 4 salt form.
