1447479 Chromone-carboxamido-tetrazoles FISONS Ltd 29 Nov 1973 [15 Dec 1972] 57901/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the Formula I in which R 5 is H, OH or C 1-6 hydroxyalkoxy, R 6 is H or C 2-6 alkyl, R 7 is H, and R 8 is H or C 1-6 alkyl, or R 6 and R 7 together form a -CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 -chain, provided that one or two of R 5 to R 8 is other than H, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, may be obtained by (a) reacting a compound of Formula (II) or an acid halide, ester or mixed anhydride thereof, with 5-aminotetrazole, (b) cyclizing a compound of Formula (III) or an alkali metal salt thereof, (c) selective dehydrogenation of a compound of Formula (IV) or (d) removing a group R 11 from a compound of Formula V in which R 11 represents a group which may be replaced by hydrogen, and where desired or necessary converting the compound of Formula I to a salt thereof, or vice versa. Pharmaceutical compositions, useful for treatment of diseases caused by antigen-antibody reactions, e.g. asthma, hayfever, comprise a compound of Formula I in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant, diluent or carrier, in forms suitable for administration orally, topically, rectally or by inhalation.
