Abstract
1447269 Electrostatographic polymeric toner particles XEROX CORP 3 Dec 1973 [4 Dec 1972] 55959/73 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] An electrostatcgraphic toner comprises a copolymer of (a) at least one of styrene, a styrene homologue, or substituted derivatives of these two and (b) 5-40 wt. per cent (based on the total of (a) and (b), of at least one of hexyl-, heptyl-, octyl-, nonyl- or decyl methacrylate. Examples of monomer (9) are styrene, alphamethyl styrene, 2,4-dimethyl styrene and 2,5- dimethylstyrene. A colourant such as carbonblack or a dye is preferably also present. Another preferred ingredient is a particulate salt, such as zinc stearate, with a particle size which may range from 0À5 to 40 microns. In the examples the required ingredients are mixed together to form a homogeneous mixture, and the resulting mixture is then finely divided in a jet pulverizer to form the toner particles.
